Widescreen ambient video

SXS Events were approached by a leading PR company to assist with a major client’s 50th anniversary client.

This client is a world leading producer of agricultural equipment and the event was to have an agricultural feel to it while still maintaining class, cleanliness and style.

 

 

 

The Mission

To demonstrate a natural and agricultural feel, the idea of a large-scale ambient projection of countryside would be ideal.

The client had various connections with the famous Westonbirt Arboretum and a local for filming was chosen.

 

The Footage

An SXS film crew went to location and shot a total of eight un-intercepted hours of footage using two carefully placed high-definition cameras. 

The two cameras were used as the final project was to be ultra-wide.  Using a normal camera and cropping (or zooming) to get such a wide projection would have resulted in excessive pixilation. 

By using two cameras, the overall projection was over 2000 pixels wide.

Two Sanyo XF projectors were used with a soft-edge blend to give the impression of a seamless projection.

The end product was imposing and really quite stunning.

“Most people see video projection as something that is used for corporate presentations, nightclub visuals, or watching films.  But the medium can be used in ways that creature atmosphere and affect the mood of the venue."

" We can project a wilderness scene, sky effects, underwater imagery or event sharks swimming around.”

The event also featuring full venue lighting, custom flown rigging, audio, and outdoor power.
